THE CRITICAL IMPERATIVE IN RELIGION The People of the Book, is a Muslim term for the three "Abrahamic faiths." It is currently much in vogue both in the public square and in interfaith circles as a shorthand for Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Most people have only a vague notion of what that term means. Frank Peters new book, The Voice the Word, the Books, demonstrates how differently the three faiths understand their holy books as the word of God.
